The project was the first to start using the 'photoimpressionist' form of photography. The collection of photographs started in the early 90's and went onto 2002. The original idea was to record the street life of Covent Garden (
Fun fairs and all that glows and spins, the photographs are from various parts of the London and South East.
hence the name). Then to put it in to semi-verse as if it was a day in a diary of a visitor to this strange concrete garden.
In 2005 returning home along the M25 twilight was arriving, for a change I was the passenger. The ever darkening blue seemed to clash with the red brake lights of the other cars. Expecting a row of flat red lines against the blue sky, I hadn't fore seen the peaks and drops in the road and upon processing the film the photograph title came to mind,'
Wave length'. The rest of the M25 project is still following in all its colours.
After the winter carnival in Tunbridge Wells (
Winter Wells), came to an end. Christmas at the Pantiles took over. Lasting only 3 years it was held only on the Pantiles with a number of seasonal street acts.
This web site contains photographs by myself Andrew Stanford, all of which are taken, processed and printed by me. Effects are done in camera and not by the digital. The work is hand printed onto Fuji archival paper via an archival processor.(Water washed not chemical washed). The only work that goes under digital process are negatives that have been damaged, the damaged is digitally removed, then sold as posters by the easyart company. Not all of the photograph have been printed for sale, please check the 'what can I buy section' or email me for special requests at;

A simple project of which came from the sight of a bag of police figures in a high street store. After looking at them closely, I noticed the amount of detail they had for such a cheap toy. It also brought back childhood memories of more specialised toys.
Mayday bank holiday 2002, while visiting Hastings, Kent. I noticed a gathering of strange people, horns, green, blackened and giants!, to mention but a few. It was was then I discovered it was the 'Jack in the Green' festival.

With the arrival of Autumn and the ever increasing colours we see with British trees I started this project in 2006 at Badgebury park in Kent. The project came about due to the lack of nature photography in my collection of work. 2007 the colours came from Knole park, 2008 the colours came from Hyde park.

A one off event held out side of the Sadlers Wells theatre. Dancers and colourfull people filled the area all around the theatre, along with market stalls selling South American goods.
Held at the classic area of the Pantiles, Tunbridge Wells. This was a three day event held once a year, where Georgian characters would act out a number of scandals. Of which would reveal them selves as the weekend went on.
On the last weekend of December each year, this event use to bring amazing acts to the streets of Tunbridge wells. The original idea for the project was similar to 'Movement in the Garden', where it was set to verse by an on looker. But due to the amount of acts and photographs even with the best photographs of the many events chosen the idea never came to life. Winter Wells was the title, and a few of the early photographs still have the lines for the verse in their title.
(This project was updated August 2009 to include all of the carnivals into one site section).
Originally this event would start near London bridge and travel through the Elephant and castle onto Burgess park, where the main musical event would take place. In 2008 the event started at the Elephant and castle and go on to the park. Despite the amazing show with people from all over South America show off their culture and colours this event is sadly reduced each year.

A project started in 2006, using a different type of film camera and a more abstract ideas of photography. Increased grain and a look into colour reflecting off of objects or coloured shadows cast upon surfaces. Due to the way photographed these images can only be reproduce in 10" x 8", so enlargements may have to be created via a digital process.
Originally started in 1992 with the photograph 'Channel Surfer', by taking photographs of analog television screen slightly out of signal. The project was not placed onto the web site until later due to the fact that it was taken on slide and with my darkroom geared for negative they couldn't be displayed. The arrival of scanning equipment and a digital enlarger allows to the project to be seen.
Random photographs blown up to a very large size and an A4 sheet of colour paper exposed to image. The A4 becomes the original, these are then scanned and reproduced via a digital enlarger or by easyart.com
